Description: A scabbard for a large utility knife collected among the Dakota circa 1900. The sheath consists of two sewn-together leather sides in a truncated cone shape. The front is heaviliy beaded with small glass beads in a bisected format with a four pointed star at the opening and a pattern of sinuous leaves on the body. Tin cone jingles are sewn into the seams at the sides and the juncture of the bisection. The reverse side has a loop for hanging off a belt and a small beaded four pointed star. Leather thong for hanging.
