Description: A wooden pipe stem with a porcupine quill decoration, possibly Dakota, reportedly taken from a Native American medicine man captured at Wild Goose Lake, Minnesota, circa the mid-19th century. The pipe stem was collected during the 1862 U.S.-Dakota War by Captain Charles J. Stees of the 6th Minnesota Infantry Regiment, Company G.
