Titles: Dakota pipestone pipe bowl (Supplied title)
Description: A Dakota pipe bowl carved out of red pipestone (catlinite) into the form of a bird of prey seated on, and grasped by, the talons of a larger bird of prey, circa the late 19th or early 20th century. The bird's foot forms the base of the bowl. The proximal end is drilled to fit a stem and is reinforced by a plain, raised collar. The bowl has incised plumage and eyes, along with a hooked beak. See PUID# 2855.E286.B for matching stem.
