Titles: Dakota wool and leather pipe bag (Supplied title)

Description: A Dakota tobacco pouch or pipe bag has a red wool upper section, possibly a trade blanket, lazy-stitched with yellow and green glass seed beads at the rolled edges, circa the mid- to late 19th century. The opening mouth has an ornamental leather thong and the remnant of a cloth drawstring. The lower section is buckskin and is lazy-stitched with a geometric beaded element in rose and yellow seed beads with blue borders and a yellow ground. Several vertical rawhide strips are wrapped with dyed red and green quills in a geometric pattern on a yellow ground of dyed quill. The bottom edge has a double row of buckskin fringe with attached metal cones.
