Doll and cradleboard

Doll and cradleboard

Titles: Doll and cradleboard (Supplied title)

Description: A miniature doll in a cradleboard, circa unknown. The doll is composed of gray and brown leather and wrapped in blue velvet, and is secured into a cradleboard by three leather thongs that terminate in blue, peach, red and purple beads. The blue beads have the image of a dragon cut into them. The cradleboard is trimmed with white and green beads; the hook is dark leather. The back of the carrier has a single strap. The doll has bead eyes, an embroidered nose and yarn hair. While there is no specific provenance on this doll, it is stylistically consistent with dolls manufactured for tourist trade by the Bluecloud family at Upper Sioux, Minnesota, circa the early 20th century.
