Description: A Dakota leather knife sheath, circa the mid-19th century, collected by Colonel John G. Clark of the 50th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment at Fort Rice in Dakota Territory during the US-Dakota War. The sheath has a beaded striped cuff, a beaded curved edge, and designs of an inverted "U" on a stem. The bottom of the cuff has a row of fringe and metal tinkle cones.
