Description: Flat Dakota pipe stem of well polished wood wrapped diagonally near the top with red and white glass seed beads. Below is a section of blue and white seed beads wrapped horizontally. The termination points of the beadwork are tied with green satin ribbon. The stem is tied elsewhere with red, white and blue satin ribbons. See also pipe bowl, ID Number 69.54.10.A. The pipe was collected by Col. John Clark at Fort Rice in Dakota Territory during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862.
