Description: Dakota spoon carved from a horn, probably buffalo, that is part of a collection obtained at Lower Brule and Crow Creek Reservations in South Dakota before 1958. The spoon's deep bowl has an irregular ovoid shape with a chipped lip. The curved handle has a bulbous, pointed tip. The handle midpoint is pierced with a circular hole positioned to one side. The outer wall has cracked, creating a slot. A beige ribbon strung through the hole is tied around the spoon and caught in a notch on the back.
