Description: A Dakota male doll probably made by the Bluecloud family from the Upper Sioux Indian Community in Granite Falls, Minnesota, circa the early 20th century. The doll wears an animal hide shirt with fringed yoke and fringed cuffs on sleeves. The shirt has a black fur collar, a grey fur over-the -shoulder fur sash, and a beaded necklace with a solid copper pendent. The doll wears dark wool flannel trousers with white satin trim on outside leg seam and both cuffs; leg seam is lightly beaded with red beads. Dark blue, light blue, and red yarn balls decorate both sleeves and legs just above the knees. His black yarn hair is in two long braids tied with animal hide ornamented with blue beads, metal cones and red feathers. The doll has beaded facial features and a sculpted nose. He wears earrings of beads and cowrie shells as well as animal hide moccasins lightly beaded with red, white, and blue beads.
