Description: A Dakota Medicine Lodge (Midewiwin) snakeskin, circa the mid-19th century. It is a complete dried snakeskin ornamented with tufts of red, blue, or green silk ribbon and bird quills tied by leather thongs at semi-regular intervals. The skin has been nailed to a wooden board.
