Description: Bill of sale bearing the signatures (or signatory marks) of the Dakota chief Shakopee and the trader and interpreter Philander Prescott. The bill attests that there are "goods to [be given to] Mr. F[rederic] B. Sibley for one keg of tobacco so soon as the Mdewakanton Sioux annuity [payments] for 1853 are divided." Prescott undersigns the document as a witness.
