Description: Currency issued in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, June 1, 1838. Denomination of twenty (20) dollars. It reads, in part, "The MINERAL POINT Bank Will pay TWENTY DOLLARS to [E. Walsh] or Bearer" and "Payable 1st December 1840". Undersigned by the bank's cashier and president. Engraved by Rawdon, Wright & Hatch in New York. Mineral Point Bank was chartered in 1838, one of the first three banks in the territory of Wisconsin, all of which failed shortly thereafter.
