Titles: Iroquois beaded velvet purse (Supplied title)
Description: A small Iroquois purse consisting of purple velvet and different colored flannel over a cardboard backing, covered in raised clear, green, red, gold and blue glass beads with a clear glass bead strap, circa the 1870s. Objects of this type were manufactured by Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) women in the Niagara Falls area for sale to Euro-American tourists during the second half of the 19th century. This piece was apparently collected from Dakota people, but was not manufactured by them.
