Description: A Dakota pipe bowl carved out of red pipestone (catlinite), circa the mid-19th century. The bowl has broken cleanly into two pieces at the joint where the bowl meets the shank. It was reportedly used and owned by the Dakota chief Cut Nose, also known as He Who Stands On a Cloud (Mahpiya Okinajin).
