Description: A Dakota triangular rawhide rattle with a horsehair and ribbon tassel, circa the early 20th century or earlier. The pear-shaped rawhide body is over-stitched on either side, and seems to be filled with beans or seeds. The narrowest point of the body is sewn with a three-inch tanned leather band having a short self fringe encircling it. The band is wrapped and tied with red silk ribbon. Twelve inches of gray horsehair protrudes from the leather band.
