Description: A Dakota headdress circa the 1860s. It consists of blue wool cloth which extends down to the shoulders in back and is bound at the edges with light blue ribbon. The crown of the hat has a red flannel strip, two rows of sewn quillwork and a small bunch of feathers, and is peaked by eagle feather shafts. The center front of the hat has a projecting wood horn painted green and red. The lower back side of the hat has a blue and light blue ribbon bow, a bird claw and a string of oblong blue beads.
