Description: A Dakota pipe bowl carved out of red pipestone (catlinite) into the shape of a tomahawk; its blade is carved with images of a tipi, in low relief, on each side, circa the early 20th century or earlier. The socket is square in cross-section with a faceted prow and is incised with geometric motifs. See PUID# 2848.E279.B for matching stem.
