| Description | BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Esther Avaloz was born February 21, 1911, in Topeka, Kansas. She worked in the fields from the age of eleven and attended school for one year. She lived in Colorado and California and came to Minnesota in 1935, where she met and married Gabriel Avaloz. She has five children. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Family history, her own and her husband's; St. Paul's Mexican-American community when she arrived; holidays celebrated by Mexican Americans; weddings and baptisms; and advice to younger generations. COMMENTS ON INTERVIEW: In Spanish, transcribed into English. |
