Dakota ring and pin game

Titles: Dakota ring and pin game (Supplied title)

Description: A Dakota ring and pin game, circa the mid-19th century. This game of dexterity is similar to the cup-and-ball principle and consists of three main parts. At one end is a long silver colored metal pin with a point on one end and a hook on the other. Connected to the eye of the pin is a thin leather thong, on which is strung six targets of pierced deer toe bones. At the end of the thong are five target loops of glass seed beads in blue, clear and yellow. The game is played by holding the pin end, swinging the other end up, and attempting to catch a target on the pin. Collected in Minnesota.
