Titles: Knights of Labor plate (Supplied title)
Description: Clear oval pressed glass bread plate. The plate commemorates "The Knights of Labor", which would become the largest and most visible labor organization in the United States before it was largely replaced by the American Federation of Labor around the turn of the twentieth century. The rim of the plate depicts a train, a sailing ship, a horse, and a man holding a sheaf of wheat and a scythe. The base has a raised figure of a laborer and a knight in armor. Probably made by Bakewell, Pears and Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
