| Description | Dakota dance costume hair ornament from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The ornament consists of four major components: a reflective, round metal medallion; three clustered bones whose ends have been decorated with brass beads; a quillworked and beaded leather panel with dangling leather straps wrapped in quillwork that terminate in metal tinkler cones (feather remain attached to one of the cones); and a length of wavy hair. |
