Description: Confederate States Cavalry saber (.A) and scabbard (.B) captured during the Civil War by Private George W. Buswell of the 7th Minnesota Regiment, Company B, at Fort Blakely, Alabama, on April 9, 1865. The saber has a curved, single-edged blade and a half-basket type brass hilt with oilcloth wrapped wooden grips bound with steel wire. The iron scabbard has brass suspension ring supports and the lower suspension ring has been replaced with a leather thong.
