Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Royal Thern was born in New London, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in mechanical engineering. His first air experience was with Max Conrad in 1935. He has spent time in the Air Force and Army Reserve. In 1948 Thern started his own business and also received his private pilot's license. His wife received her license in 1965. He has had his business ever since 1948. At the time of the interview Thern and his wife lived in Winona and own and ran Thern Company. They had four children. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: This tape includes biographical information, aviation, Max Conrad/cross country trip, Thern's war years, and the Thern Company.
