Titles: Dakota pipestone pipe bowl and wood stem (Supplied title)
Description: A Dakota pipe circa the early 20th century or ealier. The pipe has an elbow style, mottled pipestone bowl (A) and flat wood stem (B) with squared edges and has two longitudinal cutout sections extending to one end. The stem is decorated with porcupine-quill wrapping, bird-skin pelts and tied red ribbon. The quill colors are black, white, purple, yellow, blue and green. The wood stem inscribed with pen and ink, written in script, reads: "Presented to Mrs. Whipple/ by Wicanhpi-Duta (Red Star) David Wells,/ Birch Coulee, 1902."
