Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Zentner is a native of New Glarus, Wisconsin, and attended Clinton Junior College in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1959 and soon after began a career in the life insurance business. Zentner has served as chapter, state president, national president, and chairman of the national board of the Izaak Walton League. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: His background; Duluth chapter of the Izaak Walton League; IWL nationally vs. state chapters; IWL issues, wetlands, Memorial Hardwood Forest, timber management, water pollution, of the 1960s; how these issues affected the Duluth area; Oberstar bill and the development of the Boundary Waters legislation vs. the administrative process; future of the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area; multiple use issue and the creation of the Voyageurs National Park; IWL Endowment Fund; IWL goals for the Upper Mississippi; and the future of the League and conservation.
