The Red River Floods of 1997 Oral History Project: Interview with Nanci Tobias
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Born in Chicago, Nanci Tobias met her husband, Randy Tobias, while both were attending University of Wisconsin-Stout. After they married they moved to Breckenridge, Minnesota in 1974. Randy, a contractor, built their home in the southern part of Breckenridge in 1977. In 1985, Nanci began working at the Breckenridge Public Library. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: The course of flooding in Breckenridge; damage done to the public library; detailed discussion of the several days during which her home was surrounded by flood waters that engulfed much of south Breckenridge; effects of the flood on her family; repairs that need to be made to the library and her home; possible long-term problems Breckenridge will face as a result of the 1997 flood.
