Description |
United States Merchant Marine World War II Victory medal consists of a bronze disc showing a female figure holding a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, standing in a desert landscape. She is flanked by "World" and "War II". The reverse shows an anchor within a rope circle, around which is wound a ribbon marked "Firmitas", "Adversaria" and "Superat". Arranged in a circle around the edge is "United States Merchant Marine / 1941-1945". The medallion is suspended from a ribbon that has wide red edges and a red center flanked by narrow stripes of yellow, green, blue and white. |
