Woman's dress with day and evening bodices
|
| Description | Woman's suit constructed of light yellowish brown wool and yellowish white silk chiffon is trimmed with lace of embroidered net underlaid with cloth of black and gold threads. Suit day bodice (A) consists of a tunic length jacket open from waist with an uneven hemline and train. Attached boned bodice dickey has a stand-up collar and elbow length full sleeves with a cuff of wool and lace. Slight mono bosom front has hook and eye and snap closure and is lined with silk taffeta. Medium yellow brown velvet piping edges the bodice. White grosgrain inner back waistband has a label woven "KIERNAN/ ST. PAUL." Full length trained chiffon skirt (B) is pleated to the waistband and has a 38 cm wide border of wool and embroidered net at hem. Skirt is lined in mousseline with an attached silk taffeta petticoat with a pleated flounce. Ribbon ties are sewn to interior back side seams. Pleated chiffon evening bodice (C) has a round neck and is lined in silk taffeta with bands of wool and embroidered net at the waist and caps of the elbow length full sleeves. Trimmed with rows of gold color buttons. Sleeve flounce is lace and mousseline. Boned bodice has back hook and eye closure and a slight point at front. [All National Bureau of Standards colors.] |
