Description: A Dakota napkin ring carved out of red pipestone (catlinite) into the shape of a cylinder grasped in the talons of a bird of prey, circa the late 19th to early 20th century. The bird's foot has a pecked surface intended to resemble the texture of skin. A circular paper label glued to the cylinder is printed with, "CHAS. H. BENNETT, Pharmacist / Bennett Bldg., Pipestone, Minn." Written in ink are the words, "EAGLE CLAW / NAPKIN RING / Made From Pipestone / by Dakota Indian."
