Titles: Stillwater prison inmate's knife (Supplied title)

Description: This large, crude, sword-like knife was made by an inmate for an attempt to escape from the Minnesota State Prison in Stillwater in 1922, according to the donor. The knife was donated by Montreville J. Brown, who served as the assistant attorney general of Minnesota 1918-1923 and may have received this knife in that capacity. The steel blade is straight, with one concave edge. The handle consists of two roughly shaped blocks of wood secured by three rivets and two wood screws.
