Description: This white rectangular button was purchased at the Twin Cities GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender) Pride Celebration, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1995. The button reads 'NAMES PROJECT AIDS MEMORIAL QUILT' and features a sixteen block quilt depicting a variety of symbols. The symbols include: an open hand with needle and thread (symbol for craft), a biosphere (representing all nationalities), a heart, the Capitol dome, a spool of thread, a rainbow (symbol for unity), an eye with a tear (symbol for grief), biological symbols for female and male, an inverted pink triangle (symbol for the GLBT civil rights movement), and the mathematical symbol for infinity.
