Description John A. Johnson presidential campaign button. Johnson, a three-term Governor of Minnesota, sought the 1908 Democratic presidential nomination but lost to William Jennings Bryan. Johnson was the state's first Minnesota-born governor and the first to die in office, in 1909. Made by the Western Badge and Novelty Company in St. Paul Minnesota.
