    This particular axe was not used in North American trade, but imported in the 20th Century from Portugal, as thousands like it were, to be fraudulently passed-off as trade axes. Mark Miller does an excellent job identifying misrepresented axes on his website. About 4/5 of the way down on this page https://www.furtradetomahawks.com/fakes-mistakes--repros---17.html, is an other example from Portugal-- the one in your collection is not quite the same style, but is defintely a Portuguese axe that was never part of North American trade.
