Description: Adult polar bear skin, including head, paws and tail, backed with a heavy brown cloth edged with scalloped black felt. White cloth loops handsewn with black thread along one edge for hanging. Green paint streaks on backing. Purchased in the late 1930s from the U.S. Mercantile Company of Nome, Alaska, by the Ayer family for display in the Mille Lacs Indian Trading Post.
