Franey worked for the Minneapolis Tribune, Times, and Star and wrote an outdoors column in the 1930s and '40s. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: His background; writing the outdoor column; the Izaak Walton League; Richard Dorer; establishing the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood Forest. COMMENTS ON INTERVIEW: Mr. Franey was in ill health at the time of the interview.
