Description: United States Army Staff and Field Officer's Model 1850 sword (.A) and scabbard (.B). The etched sword has a slightly curved, single-edged blade and a Phrygian helmet type brass hilt with fishskin grips bound with brass wire. The iron scabbard is covered with leather and has brass fittings. The set was used during the Henry Hastings Sibley Expedition by Captain Leonard Aldrich of the 8th Minnesota Regiment, Company F.
