Description: A Dakota parfleche quillwork knife sheath collected by Colonel Henry L. Carver, during Henry Sibley's 1863 expedition into Dakota territory led by Henry Sibley. The sheath has red and yellow pigment painting on the body and a decoration at the opening of a strip of cream, red and blue quillwork with tin cone jingles hanging from it.
