Description: Salt and pepper container made from a gourd has a wood stopper and is one component of five cooking utensils found in haversack numbered 61.H38, used by Matthias Schlinker of the 2nd Minnesota Regiment, Company E, during the Civil War in the 1864 and 1865 campaigns on Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia, and made for him by Charles R. Woods of Saint Peter, Minnesota.
