Description BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Cindy Hawkins learned of her HIV infection when her son, Nicholas, was diagnosed with AIDS shortly after birth. Since his death at age three, she has devoted her life to AIDS education and to increasing services to meet the needs of women and children affected by AIDS. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: She discusses the pain of her son's death, the isolation she felt as one of the first women living openly with AIDS in the state, her fears for young women and men, and her belief that Nicholas's short life had a purpose.
