Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Born in Wahpeton, North Dakota, Neoma Laken was a lifelong resident of Wilkin County, Minnesota. She served as Wilkin County recorder from 1976 until her retirement in 1994 and collected and wrote county history for many years. In the summer of 1997, after the flood, she was appointed to the Breckenridge, Minnesota, City Council, where she was involved in a number of flood-recovery projects. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Laken describes her many activities and contacts with people in Breckenridge during the spring 1997 flood.
