Bill of sale given to Dakota Chief Shakopee by Frederic B. Sibley
Description Bill of sale bearing the signatures (or signatory marks) of the Dakota chief Shakopee and the trader and interpreter Philander Prescott. The bill attests that there are "goods to [be given to] Mr. F[rederic] B. Sibley for one keg of tobacco so soon as the Mdewakanton Sioux annuity [payments] for 1853 are divided." Prescott undersigns the document as a witness.
