Description: This Colt Model 1862 police revolver belonged to Josias Ridgate King, a Captain in the First Minnesota Regiment of the United States Army during the Civil War. The .36 caliber five-shot police revolver has undergone factory conversion to use .38 caliber rim fire cartridges. The gun has a rebated, half-fluted cylinder, brass trigger guard and grip straps, and varnished walnut grips. The trigger, cylinder, and barrel have been blued. A loading gate and ejector housing were added at the time of its conversion for cartridge use, but the ejector housing is missing.
