Description | United States Army enlisted soldier's Model 1895 forage cap. The hat was worn during the Spanish-American War by H. J. Brandel of the Fourteenth Minnesota Infantry Regiment, Company E. The hat has a pillbox type crown covered with wool flannel, cotton lining, a black leather visor and chin strap with brass General Service buttons, and a leather sweatband. At the front of the crown is a gilded brass infantry insignia. hat made by Harry H. Owens. |
