Titles: Cowbell for drum kit (Supplied title)

Description: Copper-colored cowbell with bracket attachment for use with drum kit, used by Lester Burwell in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Burwell bought his drum kit secondhand in 1931 and played it in a three-piece band throughout the 1930s, playing in parks, schools, and bars in the Minnesota State Capitol area, where he earned three dollars for two nights. They also played for events at the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department. The other band members played piano, accordion and banjo. The band last played at a friend's wedding in 1953. Lester Burwell also played drums a few nights with Whoopie John Wilfahrt's polka band.
