Description: United States Army Staff and Field Officer's Model 1850 sword. The etched sword has a slightly curved, single-edged blade and a Phrygian helmet type brass hilt with fishskin grips bound with brass wire. It was used during the Civil War by Adjutant Alonzo Putnum Connolly of the 6th Minnesota Volunteer Regiment. C. Collins and Company supplied the blade to Tiffany and Company, who made the hilt and did the etching, 1862.
