Oral history interview with Elsie L. Hesse Blume
Elsie Louise Hesse Blume was born January 18, 1899, in the Lower Sioux Agency Stone House near Morton, Minnesota, the fourth child of German immigrants Carl and Emily Knueppel Hesse. She lived there until the age of sixteen, when her father purchased what was then known as the Redwood County Poor Farm. She lived there with her parents until her marriage, at age twenty three, to Marvin Hesse. She lived in the Redwood County area all her life and at the time of the interview resided in Olivia, Minnesota. In the interview Blume describes growing up on the Lower Sioux Agency in Minnesota.
