Description: A non-regulation, possibly non-military cylindrical valise of tarred leather lined with blue and white cloth. The saddle case was used by surveyor Theodore H. Barrett, who served during the Civil War as Captain of the 9th Minnesota Infantry Regiment, Company G, before receiving a commission with the regular army.
