Description: Currency issued in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, 1 December, 1839. Denomination of ten (10) dollars. It reads, in part, "The MINERAL POINT Bank Will pay [John Walsh] or Bearer TEN DOLLARS on demand. " Undersigned by the bank's cashier and president. Engraved by Rawdon, Wright & Hatch in New York. Mineral Point Bank was chartered in 1838, one of the first three banks in the territory of Wisconsin, all of which failed shortly thereafter.
