Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Catherine Mills Davis was born in New Britain, Connecticut, the daughter of Catherine Wellsmon Delano and Herbert Lee Mills, her ancestry dating back to the Mayflower arrivals. She was educated in Eastern boarding schools and graduated from Wellesley College with a major in music. She taught school briefly before her marriage to Edwin Davis. After their marriage, the Davis family lived in Cloquet, Minnesota, where Davis was active in the lumber milling industry. They later moved to Saint Paul. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Davis describes her courtship and marriage to Edwin Davis; their move to Cloquet, Minnesota; their house, lifestyle, and the culture in Cloquet, as well as her husband's milling operation and civic involvements. She talks about her association with Weyerhaeuser family members, their work ethic, family gatherings and their close relationship with one another.
