Description: Sailor's hatband or cap tally worn aboard the R.M.S. Lusitania. A cap tally is a black ribbon worn tied around a sailor's cap which indicates the name of the sailor's ship, in this case the "RMS LUSITANIA". The tally is embellished with embroidered British and American flags. On May 7, 1915, during World War I, the Lusitania was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat, killing 1,198 passengers and crew.
